Outboard Racing Jacking Plates

Jacking Plate

Liquid Chaos jacking plates are single adjusting, light and easy to use for today’s larger high performance outboard motors.

The jack plates are made of polished high strength extruded and machined aluminum which is manufactured and assembled by Vance Manufacturing. Making this is a very rigid and strong jacking plate. We also use bronze and brass hardware so plate and thread binding is eliminated.

The plates offer 4″ of vertical movement, with various models offering setbacks of 4″, 6″, 10″ and 12″. All offer ease of adjustment by turning one stainless steel bolt unless you choose the hydraulic option.

Does Your Boat Need a Jackplate?

For this one, we consulted our network of industry professionals. Their responses were all varying degrees of a resounding YES. But how can you tell if your boat would benefit from a jackplate? What are some of the symptoms?

1) Poor Holeshot

2) Your outboard’s not perpendicular (straight up & down) in relation to the water at top speed

3) If you can trim the engine all the way up without the prop letting go or with no appreciable loss of water pressure at full throttle

4) The hull doesn’t seem to “lift” like it should

Boats rigged with jackplates, but otherwise identical to yours, can turn higher-pitch props and perform better. Keep in mind that these characteristics can also be indications of other, more serious problems, but if you’re experiencing any or all of the above, your boat could be a good candidate for an outboard jacking plate
